Dr. Asha Baxi MS, FICOG, FRCOG Dr. Asha Anil Baxi is the Director and Chief of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Disha Fertility & Surgical Centre, Indore. Dr. Asha Baxi completed her MBBS in 1981 and MS in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 1984 from MGM Medical College, Indore, and later worked in Mumbai with stalwarts like Dr. Sadhana Desai, Dr. M Hansotia, Dr. Motashaw, and Dr. Soonawalla. While working with Dr. Sadhana Desai, she developed an interest in the field of infertility. To pursue further expertise she went to the UK and worked at Northampton and Dewsbury and also bagged the prestigious MRCOG degree in 1993. She gained more knowledge in infertility from Northampton, Oxford, and Bournehall fertility units, where the world's first IVF baby was conceived.
After working for ten years abroad, she returned to India and did pioneering work in the field of Infertility and Endoscopy. She and her husband Dr. Anil Baxi introduced Gynaecological endoscopy in central India in 1995 and have many firsts to their name including the first Laparoscopic Assisted Vaginal Hysterectomy (LAVH) of M.P. and in the field of infertility, the first ICSI & first TESA ICSI babies of MP go to her credit amongst many other firsts.
She has successfully organized ISAR-2016 at Indore, which itself was a landmark event for Indore. She has been joint secretary of international conference IFFS-2016 held in Delhi. She has been the past president of Indore Obstetrics & Gynaecology society, founder chairperson MP ISAR Chapter, Executive Committee member of ISAR. Currently, she is the chairperson of the Infertility committee FOSI-2017-2019.
Besides being a thoroughly systematic, methodical, gentle, and empathetic clinician, she is a keen academician too. She has attended many national and international conferences as faculty. She has written chapters in various books on infertility and has several publications in various esteemed journals. For her original work in the field of infertility and genital tuberculosis, she was awarded the prestigious Dr. Kumud Tamaskar award and has also been the recipient of the best publication prize in the Indian Journal of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
As a recognition of her contribution in the field of obstetrics and gynecology, she was honored with the prestigious Fellowship of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, F.R.C.O.G. in 2007 and Fellowship of the Indian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 20….
She has a lot of interest in teaching and regularly conducts FOGSI recognized courses in Infertility and Endoscopy at her center. She has organized several national and state-level conferences and is the Joint Secretary of the IFFS world congress in 2016 and the organizing chairperson for ISAR national conference 2016.
She believes in adapting to newer technologies and strengthening existing ones and integrating strong ethical values, and treating the infertile couple as a whole and not just their infertility.
Apart from her commitment to the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology she also loves traveling, meeting new people, and adventure. She is a strong believer in Yoga and also enjoys playing Table Tennis.
